NEWS AND INFORMATION
Tuesday 29th December 2009
The Committee had a work party at Ballagaraghyn on Monday 28th December;
Some changes have taken place, The track will be going in the opposite direction from the end of last season, there are new marshal boxes, courtesy of Cemex Limited, a new speaker system is being installed, start gates for the auto track should be here for the first championship round in February.

An extreme amount of rubbish was collected on the day, which included an awful lot of beer bottles and wine bottles, beer cans, pop cans, sweet papers.  All this rubbish is flying around Ballagaraghyn in the winds and getting on to neighbouring farm land.  Also the farmer who owns Ballagaraghyn grazes his sheep on the track land when we are not using it.   All this rubbish dumping has got to stop.  We do provide dustbins, however, you can all help by taking your own rubbish home with you.    Plastic is a particular problem on the land.  Your 'tear offs' are a great cause for concern, as livestock can eat them and choke.    Please use them sparingly if you have to use them.   The ACU are considering banning tear offs from tracks because of the environmental impact.  We will keep you informed of this development.

Also please check the regulations of the Schoolboy MCC point 1 "parent, guardian ... must be prepared to marshal at events, otherwise the youth rider will not be allowed to compete in the event."

The Rules of the Schoolboy Club are posted on the wall of the signing on hut and are on this page at the bottom of the navigation bar.

Monday 21st September 2009
News from the Paddock this week:

Jake and Reece both on crutches, but no broken bones, hopefully they will both be back on their bikes for the 5th Schoolboy Championship round on Sunday 27th September.

After a resounding success of the kids enduro, another meeting will hopefully be happening at the beginning of December (6th? date to be confirmed), discussions are underway with land owners for the use of their land.

A letter will be handed out to everyone who rides motocross in the Isle of Man from this week.  The letter reiterates previous letters and warnings regarding verbally abusing officials at meetings.  The letter also has a warning regarding your marshals leaving their posts without informing anyone.  This has been happening on a regular basis and leaving marshal posts unmanned can lead to avoidable accidents and ultimately court cases, prosecutions and track closures.  Please be aware your marshal should always inform the travelling marshals or Clerk of the Course if they need to come off the track.  The penalty for marshals leaving their posts is a three month ban for the rider from all clubs in the Isle of Man.

Finally, a reminder to all adults you must never touch or shout at ANY child.  No matter what has occurred on or off the track.  If you have a complaint to make about a rider you must see the rider's parents and inform the Clerk of the Course. For your own protection do not confront or approach any child without their parent being  present.

There are designated Child Protection Issues officers at all motocross events on the Isle of Man.  If you wish to talk to an CPI officer please see the Clerk of the Course or the Race Regs for their names.  Anything told to the CPI officer is in the strictest confidence.

Monday 29th June 2009

At a recent meeting of the Schoolboy Committee it was confirmed that the IOM Schoolboy Club will not be organising the 2009 BYMX Team Event to be held at Norley, Cheshire.  Due to the present monetary climate we (the Club) are having tremendous difficulties raising funds through sponsorship for our own summer series.  The Club has also secured a three year lease for the track at Ballagaraghyn and this will also put an extra strain on funds.   As the Team Event each year costs a considerable amount of money to enter plus the cost of race shirts, Tshirts and the travel costs we would not deem it viable to send a team across to the Event this year. The  monies will be better  spent on the lease, track work, our own tractor and our own championship/summer series.

The Event has also been moved to the weekend of our Championship round and due to our tight motocross schedule we cannot move to another date.

However, if anyone would like to organise a team to enter in to the BYMX Team Event please contact Sonia Goggins at the ACU.

Wednesday 17th June 2009

Another safety measure which is not being adhered to:  Riding in the paddock will not be tolerated.   Please make sure you push your bike to and from scruitineering and to and from the finish line.

These rules are in the ACU Rule book and can mean you get sent home without racing.  Please read your handbook!!
